What an event Shannon and Deepa’s Engagement was! WOW! I am always super impressed by how elaborate and beautiful east indian events are and Shannon and Deepa’s engagement was just that! The event was beautifully set up and full of amazing traditions, love, and energy! It’s, in short, setup, eat, ceremony, eat, dance dance dance (with children passing out of tiredness and adults passing out of, ahem, drinking… hehehe)!

It’s always awesome that I feel like I’m partying and working at the same time with them since they’re always so hospitable make me feel like I’m part of the family! Thanks so much Shannon and Deepa for choosing me to be your photographer, can’t wait to photograph your wedding festivities! Enjoy the pics!

Rammy and Nidaa were one of the chillest couples I’ve photographed! I’ve known Rammy since high school and it was amazing to have the chance to experience such an important moment in his life! Simply put, Nature is gorgeous!!! Got to see a Double Rainbow (literally all the way) today… Even though the second rainbow was faint, it was still evident and spectacular… The Rainbow lasted for a good 20 minutes too for me to have time to capture it, even though the mosquitoes were still attacking me… Enjoy!!! ~Romy

Mountain Biking: A New Found Passion | Edmonton Photographer

Three ouches (+ some minor ouches) after my AMAZING experience yesterday mountain biking (in Terwillegar park, beautiful by the way!) with one of my clients/friends: First ouch, close to about 50 mosquito bites all around my back, hamstrings, calves, and quads. Second ouch, got multiple gash wounds on both my legs from being, well, incompetent, since it was my first time going down pretty tricky trails, which included deep puddles, slippery roots and branches, and steep up/down hills… Great workout for the hammies though, they feel pretty useless now… hahaha. And last but not least, the third ouch, super sore muscles which were felt all today, from my head down to my toe. The minor ouches, but definitely the enjoyable ones, are the cleaning, and caring of my wounds, but all in all, I’ve grown a great new passion and immense appreciation for the sport and the park. Below is a picture of my shoes post-trail ride (super gunky, muddy, and wet), and post-cleaning (sparkly, sexy, and dry) hahahaha… enjoy and comments are definitely welcome for those who share the same passion! cheers! ~Romy

The Beautiful Morning Thunderstorm | Edmonton Photographer

Seldom do I wake up with such excitement flowing in me. After peeking out to a yellowish orange sky, I bolted out with all my camera gear knowing that if I don’t hurry up and grab the shots I wanted, I could get poured on REALLY FAST! At first glance, the sky looks like it’s burning due to the red-orange-ness of it. The next thing you notice are the amazing clouds that span across the whole entire sky. What’s even cooler is that there was a beautiful rainbow that emerge behind this little house.

I got the shots I wanted, accompanied by multiple mosquito bites , and my wife called me, telling me that I have got to try to capture the lightning. I quickly grab all my camera gear again (this time running upstairs), set it to a long shutter, and waited patiently… I’ve got to say, this was so worth it… check out the two pics that I’ve shot from this morning, first of the sky with the amazing clouds, then the image with lightning sandwiched between two rainbows!!! *Update: Below are 3 more images One of the full panoramic (may be a little too small). Corporate Hip Hop Challenge 2011 | Edmonton Event Photographer

The Corporate Hip Hope Challenge 2011 was an amazing event that brought awareness to Hip Hop for Hope 8 where funds are raised for the Youth Emergency Shelter Society! I’m proud to be photographing/filming this event since its inception (last year), and I gotta say, this years event was more than just better than last years, it brought so much more attention to the great cause!!! Participating this year were Servus Credit Union, Youth Emergency Shelter Society, Westjet, Enterprise Holdings, Holy Cross, and last but not least, Lacombe Park Dental. Each team/crew was assigned a hip hop instructor where they got to learn how to groove, perform, and coordinate as a team! Enjoy the pics! ~Romy

Soup Sisters is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to providing comfort to women, children and youth through the making, sharing and donating of soup. Founded in March 2009 by Calgarian Sharon Hapton, Soup Sisters support women’s shelters across the country with the very simple and heartfelt gesture of providing home made soup. Soup Sisters is also deeply committed to raising awareness about domestic abuse and family violence. A shelter representative addresses every Soup Sisters group, providing an overview of the many healing and prevention programs available at the shelter.
